Will GPT-6.1 Astra Be Released by October 23, 2026? Horary Case File #005

My horary forecast is NO: I lean against a qualifying GPT-6.1 Astra-or-higher public release by October 23, 2026. Confidence is low. Mercury, which I assign to the model, slows without completing its current application to Jupiter. The Moon supplies meaningful counterarguments, so this is a narrow judgment—not a claim that the chart rules out a release.

This is Horary Case File #005, an astrological forecast rather than an OpenAI announcement. The question came through my horary radar from a Polymarket contract. I asked it on October 15, 2026, at 9:44 a.m. PDT in Henderson, Nevada.

For the method behind the interpretation, start with my complete guide to horary astrology.

The question timestamp identifies the chart, not the publication time. The date shown on this article records when the forecast was made public. The interpretation was developed after the question moment; the calculated contacts below are not all future events relative to publication.

This is an educational record of astrological interpretation. It is not inside information, a scientifically validated release forecast or advice to place a wager.

What Counts as a GPT-6.1 Astra Release?

I follow the October 23 Astra 6.1+ contract. A qualifying OpenAI model must be designated version 6.1 or higher and include “Astra” in its name or identifier. An existing GPT-6 Astra snapshot or mode does not count. Neither does a new model from an excluded tier or task-specific line merely because its version number is higher.

The contract requires a launched, publicly accessible model and allows open beta or open rolling waitlist signups. Closed betas, private access and placeholders do not qualify. Official OpenAI information is the primary resolution source, with credible reporting available for verification. The linked rules govern edge cases.

This is not a test of whether the product is finished, flawless or immediately available to everyone. A qualifying limited rollout can still make the answer YES.

A YES resolution makes this NO forecast incorrect. A NO resolution makes it correct. An unresolved, voided or disputed contract will remain unscored until its disposition is clear. I am not forecasting a replacement release date.

Research Disclosure: Not an Odds-Blind Forecast

This Case File was developed with AI-assisted research and calculation checks. Market odds and release-related commentary were encountered during that work. It cannot therefore be described as odds-blind or news-blind.

The astrological argument is recorded separately, but that does not remove the possibility of influence. No clean pre-exposure benchmark is claimed. References below to difficulty or constraint are interpretations of the chart, not independently verified facts about OpenAI's development plans.

The October 15 Horary Chart

The recorded local time is 9:44 a.m. PDT, equivalent to 16:44 UTC. The original “PST” label was a daylight-saving-time labeling error: the supplied angles agree with the daylight-time calculation. The question moment has not been moved.

Ascendant: 27°30′ Scorpio
Midheaven: 8°37′ Virgo

Horary chart for a GPT-6.1 Astra-or-higher release by October 23, 2026, cast October 15 at 9:44 a.m. PDT in Henderson, Nevada, with Regiomontanus houses.
Planet Recorded position Radical house
Sun 22°20′ Libra 11th
Moon 19°58′ Sagittarius 1st, near the 2nd cusp
Mercury 17°03′ Scorpio 12th
Venus 5°29′ Scorpio, retrograde 12th
Mars 10°01′ Leo 9th
Jupiter 22°03′ Leo 9th
Saturn 10°25′ Aries, retrograde 5th

“Radical” means the houses of the original chart, before turning them to describe another party. Forward contacts were checked using tropical, geocentric Swiss Ephemeris calculations. The interpretation uses the seven traditional planets; outer planets and additional points do not decide the result.

For the distinction between a question, a chart and its publication, read which time and location a horary chart uses.

Who Represents OpenAI and Its Model?

I assign OpenAI to the seventh as the other party or provider, then derive its product and communications from that house. This keeps three things separate: the company, its model and an announcement about the model.

Subject House assignment Planet
The querent 1st Mars
OpenAI 7th Venus
Its model/product 2nd from the 7th: radical 8th Mercury
Its communications 3rd from the 7th: radical 9th Sun
Supporting testimony about the conclusion Radical 4th Jupiter

Lilly's house descriptions supply the traditional foundations: the other party, possessions, messages and the end of a matter. Their application to a company and an AI product is a modern interpretive extension, not a classical rule specifically covering software releases.

Jupiter is a supporting significator of the conclusion, not an independently established planet of public availability. Likewise, Mars represents me; my personal receipt of access is not the contract's requirement. I do not make an absent Mercury–Mars aspect an automatic denial.

Establishing those roles comes before weighing an attractive or troubling aspect. The process is explained in how significators are assigned in horary astrology.

Mercury: An Application That Does Not Complete

Mercury is direct but slowing, in the cadent twelfth. At 17°03′ Scorpio, it has no essential dignity under Lilly's scheme. That makes it peregrine, not fallen or in detriment. The distinction can be checked against Mercury's traditional dignities.

I read its condition as difficulty bringing the product forward. More important than that general description is the fate of its application to Jupiter.

The chart lists an applying square with approximately 5° remaining. Yet Mercury slows before it can close the gap. At their closest approach, early on October 23 in Eastern Daylight Time, the square remains approximately 2°16′ short. Mercury stations retrograde on October 24 near 20°59′ Scorpio without completing it.

The problem is not that the aspect is a square. It is that the proposed contact never reaches exactness on this approach. The station is after the deadline, but the gap stops closing before it. This is the non-completion associated with refranation, discussed in Lilly's Christian Astrology, Book I, printed page 111.

I give that failed product-to-conclusion connection substantial weight toward NO. Its interpretation still depends on the adopted house model: it is not proof that every path to release has failed. The Moon's later contacts with Mercury are a real challenge to this judgment.

Venus: The Company Begins Under Constraint

Venus is retrograde, in detriment in Scorpio, and cadent in the twelfth. At approximately 13°09′ from the Sun, it is also under the Sun's beams in the convention used here—not yet combust at the question moment. Lilly distinguishes these solar conditions on printed page 113 of Christian Astrology.

This is not a straightforward picture of outward delivery. But I interpret it as constraint or reconsideration, not as evidence of a particular cancelled launch or internal defect. The existing company–product conjunction is separating, and the pair does not form another direct conjunction before the deadline.

There is a supporting dignity relationship that should not be overlooked: Mercury occupies Venus's terms in Scorpio. This is a minor relationship through dignity, even though Mercury lacks dignity of its own. It does not supply a new applying conjunction, but it prevents a blanket claim that the company and product lack every supportive connection.

The Moon's Immediate Sequence Favours YES

The Moon is waxing, and its next contacts in Sagittarius are a trine to Jupiter followed by a sextile to the Sun. Jupiter receives the Moon by domicile; the Sun receives it by daytime fire triplicity.

Within this model, those contacts connect the unfolding matter with its conclusion and the company's communications. The Moon's passage from Jupiter to the Sun also offers a translation-of-light candidate: a faster planet linking two others in sequence. I regard this as genuine affirmative testimony, not merely a pleasant-looking pair of aspects.

Reception and planetary condition still qualify it. The Sun is in fall in Libra, and neither of these immediate contacts directly reaches Mercury. Those limitations do not erase the favourable sequence; they keep it from settling the public-release question by itself. For the technical distinction, see reception and mutual reception in horary astrology.

The Moon Does Reach Mercury Before the Deadline

After entering Capricorn, the Moon sextiles Venus, squares Saturn and then sextiles Mercury. A forthcoming contact with the product significator exists. A NO judgment cannot fairly ignore it.

However, the Moon has entered its detriment, and the square to Saturn intervenes between its contacts with Venus and Mercury. This is not an uninterrupted company–Moon–product translation. Lilly's stricter perfection-by-translation passage requires the intermediary to reach the second significator before meeting another planet; see printed pages 125–126 of Christian Astrology.

That does not make the later sextile disappear or establish that Saturn prohibits the release. It limits the particular translation being proposed. The Moon–Mercury contact remains an argument for YES, even if its route is not uncomplicated.

Calculated Contacts: October 15–24

Times below are approximate Eastern Daylight Time, UTC−4, matching the contract's time zone. They describe celestial contacts, not predicted launch times. Some occur before this article's publication. The table selects the contacts discussed; it is not every lunar aspect in the interval.

Date, 2026 Contact or motion Approximate EDT
October 15 Moon trine Jupiter 4:58 p.m.
October 15 Moon sextile Sun 5:56 p.m.
October 16 Moon sextile Venus 6:51 p.m.
October 17 Moon square Saturn 5:50 a.m.
October 17 Moon sextile Mercury 11:07 p.m.
October 21 Moon trine Venus from Pisces 12:51 p.m.
October 22 Moon trine Mercury from Pisces 11:31 p.m.
October 23 Sun conjunct Venus 11:44 p.m.
October 24 Mercury stations retrograde 3:13 a.m.

Later Contacts Are the Strongest Challenge to NO

The Moon's Pisces trines to Venus and Mercury on October 21–22 have no intervening major planetary aspect. This is a more continuous company–Moon–product sequence. Venus also receives the Moon in Pisces by exaltation, supporting the relationship as the Moon leaves Venus.

These are not the Moon's immediate applications in the original sign. Reaching them means extending the forward analysis through several signs. I give that later sequence less weight than the initial product condition and its current approach to Jupiter, but that is a methodological choice, not a demonstrated reason the later connection cannot fulfil the matter.

The Sun–Venus conjunction near the end of October 23 is another objection. In the longitude-based cazimi convention used here, Venus is strengthened at the heart of the Sun. This is a zodiacal-longitude definition, not a claim that Venus physically crosses the Sun's disc. The Sun has also left its fall by that conjunction in early Scorpio.

Those changes mean neither the company nor its communications should be described as uniformly debilitated throughout the period. Still, the conjunction does not involve Mercury. Its proximity to the deadline does not independently establish a model launch, and I do not predict a last-minute announcement from the clock time alone.

Chart Cautions Do Not Decide the Answer

The Ascendant at 27°30′ Scorpio falls within the late-degree consideration. I record it as a caution rather than proof that the answer is already decided or that a release cannot happen.

The Moon is approximately 4°57′ before the second cusp. Under the five-degree near-cusp convention, its influence is assigned to that approaching house, despite its geometrical position in the first. I therefore do not count it as an uncomplicated, strongly angular Moon. Its Sagittarius applications do establish that it is not void of course.

These observations qualify the reading. They do not outweigh the relevant planetary connections simply because a caution sounds dramatic.

Why the Final Judgment Remains NO

The choice is between two plausible readings. The negative case rests on the principal planets' initial condition and Mercury's failure to complete its current application. The affirmative case rests on the Moon's favourable sequence, its subsequent contact with Mercury and the later improvement involving Venus and the Sun.

I give the model's stalled application a narrow advantage. This is a judgment about non-completion under the adopted model—not a mechanical rule that a square, a twelfth-house planet or retrogradation always means NO. A limited release could still qualify, and the lunar alternatives are substantial enough to keep confidence low.

This case also tests the lesson from Case File #002: keep the actual proposition central. Here, that means neither reducing every contact to generic activity nor promoting every contact to a public release. The failed Mercury–Jupiter approach must be relevant to completion, and the Moon's competing routes must receive the same scrutiny.

For the broader process, read how to read a horary chart.

Recorded forecast: NO — no qualifying GPT-6.1 Astra-or-higher public release by October 23, 2026, under the linked contract's rules.
Confidence: Low.

I make no separate timing prediction. The listed astronomical contacts are not evidence of an official release schedule, and they will not be claimed as successful event predictions afterward.

Outcome — Pending

Status: OPEN. Once the contract resolves, I will add the result and the authoritative evidence. Any qualifying model's name and access conditions must be established from the relevant official announcement or availability record. OpenAI's model release notes are one source to check, not a substitute for the specific evidence of release.

The original NO forecast, low confidence, house assignments and research disclosure will remain visible. The postmortem will examine both Mercury's non-completion and the Moon's alternative connections. Mentioning a YES argument here does not turn a later YES result into a successful NO forecast.
